Vigil in front of the Berlin Olympic Stadium PDF Print

On the 22nd September we - “Ärzte für Tiere“– joined a vigil in front of the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The occasion was Pope Benedict giving a sermon there and our action was aimed at the stance of the Catholic Church towards animals.

Pope Benedict II, then as Cardinal Ratzinger, wrote a new catechism, according to which animals are subjected to man. They may and should be exploited for man’s benefit: for food, clothing, work and leisure, even for medical experiments, an area already sanctified by Pope John Paul II. Animals – according to this thesis – should not suffer unnecessarily, but no money should be spent on them and no affection or love given, which, to follow the Church’s teachings, should only be reserved for human beings.

Urgent and important to all organizations! We have to save the stray animals in Europa! To the EU: please take Part and pass on! PDF Print

To all organizations and animal protectors, who for many years are working hard to save Europe’s stray animals :
After in 2009 and 2010 all our efforts to save stray animals have failed in front of the European Parliament. So we now have to make a new start. The previous fight of single societies or persons with authorities and Europe’s animal hostile laws has by no means been successful. Romania’s battle of annihilation makes us force the EU directly and well organized to stop this barbarism via legislation valid for the whole EU and to guarantee a maximum protection to all stray animals. Therefore we call upon all organizations for the prevention of cruelty to animals in Germany and Europe to unite thus putting pressure onto the EU to act. Withdrawal of a single country can by no means be accepted!

StARS - Stray Animal Rights Society

As a network and platform the StARS initiative internationally wants to show and make use of ways to reach a legislation for the protection of animals that is binding for and implemented by all member states of the EU. StARS initiates and promotes the creation of study groups which take over certain tasks within the range of the topic „street animals in the EU“ and work on it.

Our campaign

Guantanamo

In order to reach our aim on a European level, we have already invested a lot of work - in particular for contacts with animal welfare organizations and the media. In addition, the establishment of a European-wide network requires traveling into the "problem countries". On account of the information thus gained, our lawyers have now written to the European committee and have sent evidence about the legal offenses.

Among others, the supervision of the keeping of European contracts and therefore also of the contract of Lisbon belongs to the tasks of this institution:The contract of Lisbon recognizes efforts towards the well-being of animals, because these are feeling beings.
