Brussels, 22 November 2011

Under the title “Europe must assume responsibility for millions of stray animals!”, Ärzte für Tiere handed over a petition aimed at the creation of a uniform trans-European Animal Welfare Act to Mrs. Erminia Mazzoni (President of the EU Petitions' Committee) in the parliament building in Brussels.

Members of the delegation were representatives of Pfotenhilfe Europa e.V., ( Birgit Lewe), Nathalie Klinge of SOSDogs from the Netherlands, Marion Löcker of Robin Hood e.V. from Austria, Dieter Ernst of ETN e.V. and Hans-Joachim Richter of Ärzte für Tiere.

A response is not expected to be given by the EU before February or March of 2012!

On this occasion a short consultation took place with Eva Lichtenberger of the Austrian Green Party as well as with Jörg Leichtfried of the Austrian SPÖ.
